Rainbows Hospice for Children & Young People is based in Loughborough, Leicestershire, and is the only Hospice across the East Midlands that delivers a comprehensive range of support services, nursing and care for babies, children, and young people with life threatening and life limiting conditions and their families. Our services are delivered at Lark Rise, in the community and in Hospital. Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives, and support families, wherever they are.

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Finance Manager to join our dynamic Finance Team, to take ownership of our financial management, planning and regulatory/governance functions. Within this role you will lead and motivate the finance team, as well as be encouraged to bring new ideas to ensure efficiency within the finance function.   

This role is full-time of 37.5 hours, working in the office on Lark Rise in Loughborough. But for the appointable candidate we could consider part-time hours of 30 depending on charity sector experience. We will be offering the successful candidate the option to work hybrid (2 days from home) once embedded within the role.

About the role

To be responsible to the Director of Finance for the financial management, financial planning, and regulatory/governance functions of the charity.

The role of Finance Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Finance team.

Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • To work with the Director of Finance to improve financial reporting to inform performance management and strategy development.
  • Providing such support and assistance to the Finance Team in order to meet their reporting requirements.
  • Prepare the draft annual budget in conjunction with the Departmental Budget holders.
  • Monitoring the charity’s cash flow both current and forecast and informing the Director of Business Resource or Treasurer and Chief Executive of any concerns.
  • Prepare statutory annual accounts, organise the annual audit and facilitate the work of auditors.
  • Produce longer-term forecasts of income and expenditure.
  • Ensure compliance with the stipulations of charitable company regulators, including Companies House and the Charity Commission, particularly the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

Requirements

It is essential for you to hold an ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualification as well as the ability to analyse, consolidate and interpret accounting data to produce accurate, timely and meaningful information. You will have the ability to meet deadlines and work well when under pressure without compromising accuracy. You will have an awareness of legal and tax issues relating to charities, especially Gift Aid, and have risk management skills. For this role you will need to have excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.

It is desirable for you to have accounting experience of budget preparation and monitoring in the charity sector as you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the stipulations of charitable company regulators, including Companies House and the Charity Commission, particularly the Charities SORP (FRS 102).
