Here at Rainbows Hospice, we support the hospital to home transition for medically stable children & young people, requiring long term ventilation, who might otherwise need to remain on an intensive or high dependency care area through our Long-Term Ventilation and Step-Down Team.

Rainbows Hospice is currently seeking a Band 4 Nurse Associate to join our Long-Term Ventilation and Step-Down Team, providing 1-2-1 care for babies, children and young people who have a range of complex needs including long term ventilation of either a tracheostomy tube (invasive) or via a face mask/nasal cannula (non-invasive). As part of the LTV and Step-Down Team, you will have the opportunity to work within the multidisciplinary team made up of a variety of skilled members including Music Therapists, Complementary Therapists, and our non-medical workforce team of ACP’s.

Rainbows Hospice is available for families all year, 24 hours a day, we therefore operate on a shift basis to provide the best possible service.

About the role

To provide a high standard of nursing care in our small step-down team within Rainbows Hospice environment, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

You will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Under direct supervision, manage the care of children and young people (aged 0-25yrs), as part of the small LTV & step-down team.
  • Ensuring families have every opportunity to become empowered in all elements of their child or young person’s care.
  • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, participate in the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and their families.

Requirements:

As a Nurse Associate, you’ll need to be qualified with a Nursing Associate degree qualification with 1 year post-registration experience in a relevant setting. You will have the ability to deliver patient centered care and ideally have the experience of working with babies, children and/or young people with complex care needs.

Long-term ventilation experience is desirable; however, specialist training and development opportunities will be provided.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical care are essential.
